I read once that the average lifetime of a web site is ~2.5 years. I think Moth was thereabouts, but tlmb.net is 22 years old now.

I guess there are a lot of sites started up with a burst of enthusiasm which then wanes in the face of having to provide content/updates/give-a-damns, and pay for hosting/domain name renewals. Thus dragging the average down.
