Great piece in the Onion about amateur skateboarders who haven't landed a trick in 12 years.

Made me wonder whether we might appear similar to the outside world? Probably not I think. Most people will only have seen professional jugglers so will have seen a higher standard (ie well practiced as opposed to cutting edge) of juggling. Also I think a lot of amateur jugglers will reign in their juggling when demonstrating for muggles, I know I certainly do.

I've commented in the past that I've never seen a skateboarder land any kind of trick, outside of a skate park at least. It's not true any more, but it was for a surprisingly long time. At juggling clubs and conventions and other gatherings I see loads of people failing to get tricks continuously, but there are always some people just juggling for fun, and succeeding.

There are a bunch of skaters who practice around the Vancouver Art Gallery around the same time as Saturday Circus. It's interesting to see the various tricks attempted, failed, and recovered or bailed.
