I just got back from #BJC2012 approximately one slap up meal ago. I had a fantastic festival, which was just what I needed. I'm going to spend the next few days writing what I thought of it all hopefully to finish before the weekend which if you want to read everything that I've got to say you might want to keep free in your diary...
For now I'll drop one of many many highlights for me: The manic Saturday night gladiators was great fun if a little brutal, I picked up a number of flesh wounds over the course of play.
I sat out for a while to recover & watched from the walkway to see Hairy take one to the face which resulted in a chipped tooth. He then started the next game by charging into the centre of the circle screaming, "COME ON YOU FUCKERS!" then proceeded to systematically charge (& I really mean charge) at each person in the circle in turn knocking them out then running back to the centre to reclaim his dominant position. With every person he took out the excitement built that he might win the game & myself & the other spectators cheered him on. Seeing him take out the last remaining combatant was a moment of pure joy & Simon, Nigel, Andy & I applauded our respect.
I have never worked so hard at a convention & can honestly say that it is in fact very easy to spend many hours volunteering every day without missing out on anything.
I've got lots of praise for a lot of people but for now I'm just going to say kudos to Topper & Simon who worked like Trojans especially over the last 2 days. Next year we'll wear nothing but red cloaks & a loin cloth (oh wait that was the Spartans, nevermind, I'm sure Tom D would gladly join us).
Coming back, logging in then seeing the Edge light up with notifications was a very pleasing sight. Thank you Marvin for looking after the place while I was away.
Right, best deal with this queue of invitation requests...
I look forward to reading when up it is written.
It also now know who you are, we very briefly spoke near the start of the party, just in front of the band. I was the one in a dinner jacket with a homemade silver bow tie.
