Any nice easyish siteswaps with 5 (clubs) people could recommend? I've been trying a few recently, and been enjoying the practice, but would like some ideas for nice ones to throw as tricks so that I've more to do than just drill the same ones. Things similar to 75751 and 7463 that are a bit different, but not much harder juggling wise than the standard 744, 645, 663 bunch. I think my 5 club stability improves more by trying new ones rather than getting the old ones better ;)

Also, what spins do people generally go for for club siteswaps (if you're just trying the most natural way, rather than deliberately trying interesting spin)? I put off doing siteswappy stuff with clubs for ages because I didn't like making decisions on spin...
So far I've been doing single for 3/4, double for 5, triple for 6/7 and quad for 8 (for stuff like 534 I would do triples, doubles, singles, but that is probably the exception). Anyone deviate from this a little/a lot/have strange habits for certain tricks?

My skill level is lower than yours so you these might not help but these are things I do to make my five club sessions more varied and enjoyable:
- Continuous multiplexing two clubs from one hand into two hands. They are at different heights. I do it with double/single and triple/double.
- One club in head balance, hold other four. Go into cascade.
- cascade and finish with a scissor catch. Swing and release the club to fly up so you can go back into cascade.
- singles
- triples
- 73 (attempts)
- balance one club on two held in your hand. Chuck it in the air and go into cascade
- one backcross to collect
With respect to spins I just do the same as you.

Thanks - I like some of those ideas - hadn't thought of starting with one on a balance like that. Things to keep it varied are what I'm looking for!

I have had moderate success with 672, (6x,4x)*, (6x,4)*, 66661, 94444 but those are all pretty obvious
Would suggest maybe 77731, 77461, 67561, 67345, 68551, 85345, 747741, 78451
I sometimes throw 7's on quads if I need more time to throw low throws (e.g. 753). Other than that I agree with you on the obvious spins.
I also find certain combinations e.g. 7-5 and 6-7 very hard. I have been trying to work on 67313, 73451 and 75611 with 4 to build up to some of these. There are some really nice 4 club siteswaps that are run-able for a long time but you don't see often. I generally find low ceilings are my biggest problem rather than the pattern on some of the bigger tricks though!
Enjoy
James

Thanks. Will definitely try the 4 club ones as well - I've not been very ambitious with these. 73451 looks nice!
I agree with James's suggestions overall though I haven't done several of them, anyway, here's the list of ones that I work on/have tried and liked (excluding the ones you mentioned):
- (6x,4)* and (6,4x)* (also throwing an (8x,4)(4,4) in the middle is nice)
- 66661
- 67561
- 64 - one sided but I still like it, it really makes sure your heights are right in order to keep correct timing
- 753
A little harder but these are also nice (mainly as once off tricks for me, I can't run them)
- 88441
- 97441
- 97531
- 771
I realise James mentioned a few of those, but just figured I'd list the ones I did as they're somewhat related.
RE spins, I tend to do the same as you, the main exception for me is (6x,4)* and (6,4x)* in which I do double-single instead of triple-single. I tend to do 534 as double-single-single, I personally prefer it there though I have worked on both. I tend to do quads for the 7s in 771 when attempting that too (I would like to make them triples though).
I also have a friend who follows ss-2 for amount of spins (except a 1 is zero spins, not -1 :P ), I won't say I agree with it but it certainly works for him and is an interesting approach. I find it weird personally especially for tricks like (6x,4) and 97531 (both of which he does), but it's another option.

Yes, I do (6,4x) as double single, but I thing sync throws are probably just a bit different. For (6x,4x) I do triple singles, although I can't do it very well and it is also edging towards 73.
I've seen 6x,4 done on 4 spins and 2 spins by someone at EJC (maybe same person?). But 7 spins for the 9 is insane!
I'd say I do (6x,4x) on double single and 73 on triple single (for which my timing is very off, kind of like double-single with 4), but the collisions get hard to avoid for me with double-single (6x,4x)
I would not be surprised if it was him as he was at EJC this year (he lives down in Aus though)

Christian?
I think that was the Aus Juggler in Ireland this year doing the crazy quad double (6x,4)* and generally throwing everything with far too much spin
Had fun passing with him though which he seemed to with regular spin
I do (6x,4)* on double single and (6x,4x) on triple single as like you collisions on ds are very difficult to avoid
No, his name is Karl, though incidentally there is another great passer from Aus who also tends to put spin clubs a lot who's name is Christian (I think he went to EJC ~4 years ago?)
Both do tend to do passing with normal spin though, I have a feeling that may be because it's something you almost always learn from someone rather than working out yourself, so it tends to be more standard.

Yes it was Karl. I suck at remembering peoples names. Give me long abstract lists of numbers any day of the week!
Number of spins really depends on the whole siteswap, not the individual throw height. In 744 the 7 is normally a triple, but in 753 it's normally a quad. 645 is the easiest of the patterns you listed (6s outside). (6x,4)* is one of my favourites. Also don't forget multiplexes, which I think are much more fun with clubs than balls. Gatto multiplex [54]24 on triple double single or double single single. See Philip Vermehren's club multiplex video for many more.
Brook Roberts - - Parent #
Yeah, I should work on multiplexes - I've never put much effort in but think I might start making more effort. I'll check out that video, although I'll probably want to start out with some easyish 4 club ones since I suspect my multiplexes will be really bad.
Interesting that both you and James mentioned 753 with the 7 as a quad - I did it as a triple anyway, but will probably give a quad a go next time.
645 the easiest? Bah. I didn't bother learning that with balls until I could run 744 and (6x,4) for about a minute. Something about it seems fiddly to me, especially with clubs. When I try it with clubs, I was going to try 6's in the middle, i.e. on the outside of the 5 that's coming down, but the inside of the 4. Do you think the outside of both is much easier?
Yes, outside both is easier. I can run 645 and 6x4 quite a long time, but can't run 744 very long at all. I know someone who's started learning 645 and 744 at the same time and they're making much more progress with 645.
jamesfrancis - - Parent #
Agreed 645 is easier. I can run it about twice as long
(6x,4)* and (6x,4x) are both easier still though
