Is there a juggling-God or a patron-saint? .. or do you simply put balls into Shiva's hands? Is Thor befriended with poi-ists? [ #religion ]

Daniel Simu - - Parent

what for?

7b_wizard - - Parent

For juggling. lol

7b_wizard - - Parent

Or a Circus-God for artists .. do not rope-artists or trapezists have a patron-Saint to keep them healthy and prevent them from misfortune?

bad1dobby - - Parent

Rope-artists and trapezists stay healthy and safe through practice, diligence, focus, and regular inspection of their equipment.

Also, I would like to know, who exactly that is torturing me with having to learn to scoop now instead of giving me a breakthrough with my juggling. .. There is Caissa for chess, St. Christopher for drivers, .. who's for juggling, I wonder?

So....."is there a juggling god"......hmmmm......interesting question.....

I believe that there is a mystical spirit that inhabits the bodies of jugglers. This spirit has been passed down generation by generation. The spirit goes away when the juggler dies or if the juggler decides to become retired.......I believe that Enrico Rastelli had that mystical being inside of him. And I believe that when he died he passed that "Thing" into Kris Kremo. And then the "thing" passed into Anthony Gatto. And then after Gatto retired, the "thing" was then passed onto......um.......Ty Tojo? Peterbone? Orin? Me? Wes? 7b_wizard? Who knows;)

7b_wizard - - Parent

I can't have it .. I'm older than Gatto O,o

7b_wizard - - Parent

.. but how you see it reminds me of the spirit of e.g. the Dalai Lama.

St. John Bosco is considered the patron saint of jugglers (as well as magicians) primarily because he himself juggled and performed tricks:

"When the traveling entertainers performed at a local feast in the nearby hills, John watched and studied the jugglers' tricks and the acrobats' secrets. Then he would put on shows of his skills as a juggler, magician and acrobat with prayers before and after the performance." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bosco)

cool! .. thanks! :o)

The christians have St Julian as the patron saint of jugglers, circus workers, carnival workers and clowns - not sure why, maybe it is because he gave lodging to travellers after killing his parents.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_the_Hospitaller

pumpkineater23 - - Parent

Did he get the name because he was so hospitable or was it because he put so many people in hospital?

pumpkineater23 - - Parent

Perhaps both. He lured them in with his friendly welcoming smile, then sucker punched them when they stepped inside.

Mïark - - Parent

The meaning of hospital has changed, it used to mean somewhere travellers could stay it now means a place for ill people.

cool! .. thanks!

The Void - - Parent

No.

bad1dobby - - Parent

Beautifully and succinctly put, Void.

7b_wizard - - Parent

Okay. .. Any juggling-goblins, maybe?

7b_wizard - - Parent

.. ~fairies? .. nothing? .. at all?

david - - Parent

If it's fiction your after, Lord Valentine is pretty good.

7b_wizard - - Parent

Well .. why not .. as long as it can serve as maskot.

7b_wizard - - Parent

[sevice:] there's the jugglers in that: "
Skandars
A four-armed, shaggy, tall and very strong race. They can be found as cargo-handlers, teamsters and sailing ship crew. A few Skandars take up juggling, and with four arms they are unparalleled at this art. Skandars are known to be obstinate and hot-headed.
[wikipedia] Great!

Jareth the Goblin King obviously.

7b_wizard - - Parent

Yeah! .. nice! .. THE crystal ball .. also love Bowie ..

7b_wizard - - Parent

Not knowing any doesn't mean, there aren't.

barnesy - - Parent

I'm confident that Void knows reason.

7b_wizard - - Parent

I could also imagine some tongan Hiku-God charged with the juggling part of the dance ..

7b_wizard - - Parent

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a corresponding god for those first pics of egyptian women juggling in Beni Hasan's tomb ..

7b_wizard - - Parent

Actually with tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of gods around, I'd really be surprised, if there wasn't one for artistry or throwing things through the air. Especially in very religious or superstitious regions of the (whole) world like latin america or anywhere.

York Jugglers - - Parent

York Jugglesoc used to have a member who looked like a god, and could juggle 97 balls, a club and a sea shell; there is a picture of him at the bottom of their old website (he is the one with blue skin and four arms).

7b_wizard - - Parent

Great! .. exactly `my´ vision of Shiva juggling!

7b_wizard - - Parent

Here's one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saci_%28Brazilian_folklore%29 "juggling embers through the holes on his palms" .. not a "god", just a "character in folklore", in myths, but that's okay too ;o])

7b_wizard - - Parent

Here's also sth in the Edda prose: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla#Gylfaginning "Gangleri sees a man in the doorway of the hall juggling short swords, and keeping seven in the air at once." .. again no god, no saint, but I'll take such myths too ..

Ethan - - Parent

Ah, I think I may have found the "juggling god".........https://youtu.be/qHaiEsr8GTU If this isn't the real juggling god, then I don't know who is;)

7b_wizard - - Parent

Yeah! .. he follows the pattern without even looking by mere mind-power, .. meditating-wiggling.

pumpkineater23 - - Parent

Saci is a bizarre one. What a strange little fellow.
