10' - devilsticking - upto 4 tictocs to drop.

my experiences with that devil° upto now [ roughly in chronological or learning-steps' order: ] ..
1. halfspins with both handles, intending to get faster, partly taking care to stop it on the side where is against its spin first, only then (a twinkle later) to sustain its other end to fully land it,
2. both-handled double spins ( only a few ),
3. somewhat controlled faster both-handled halfspins merge into one-handled regular tictocs, trying to tic near its center ( initially did on its ends ),
4. ( new today: ) both handled halfspins, now trying to keep the devil's spinning center on the spot as good as can, which i think is most near to doing with one handle,

(( ° - i think, or from my little experience yet, the stick is not the devil's, but the devil himself, you know ))


4' - 3c doubles

142' - 5prop mix 2b3c ( tinyclubs, doubles ) - 3 rounds to a ball drop two times and once chaotic into all caught somehow.

26' - 3b blindfold - 173, 140 throws max.

5b casc varied - ~7 min.
7b casc - ~53 min. ___ [ daily7b III: 41 ] ( didn't get it rollin', but not all that bad, towards end almost found into good smooth relaxed pattern ___ found, that I can scoop even past the middle with handcircles then overlapping, which together with steeper angles gives wider `tunnels´ to throw up through when in a rather narrow pattern #SoL #technique #endupatt )

10' - 5b casc - 455 throws.

24' - 5 prop mix, 4b1c - 13, 14, 14 rounds. ___ #technique - The club a bit lower than the balls!? (and the corresponding faster spin then) .. increases its dwelltime to cope with, like more time to adjust the club in hand after the (a bad) catch and more time to focus on spinning and for aiming it well. Less time 'til catch since last ball throw for that hand, though.

64' - 5b rev casc - 217, 206, 137, 192, 155, 167, 147 throws max above 120. ___ [ 5b reverse cascade progress: 217 ] Good level lately, improving it seems.

5b casc varied - ~10 min.
7b casc - ~158 min. ___ 53, 41, 43, 55, 85 (! top three-four-five runs ever, rolled well, feeding the top well, rather untensed, not so very high ), 41, 47, 43, 48, 42, 47, 45, 46, 50, 49, 59, 54 cl, throws' runs longer than 40 th. ___ #technique #SoL #improvement #endupatt - Have lately been getting whole runs throwing slightly towards myself ( from ``second front plane´´ to ``inner front plane´´ in a way ). I reckon, this corresponds to a natural throwing movement with the upper arm slightly going backwards for catching, then going slightly foreward until release for throwing. ___ [ daily7b III: 85 ]

140' - 5b rev casc - 120 (45'), 113 (105'), .. my left turn drift (in any pattern) comes together with putting my weight on the right foot, I only now noticed, so, on purpose, did some of the opposite plus turning other way round just slightly, swaying, changing every few periods, .. 109, throws runs longer than 100 throws. [ 5b reverse cascade progress: 120 ]

Radar looked like rain would stop soon, but didn't, so i stood under a small roofed area doing 3b.
3b cascade - ~20 min.   Had for a while been wanting to do this: find out exactly when the  c a t c h e s  happen: Like when pulling on the one end of a rope hanging with both ends over a branch, in order to uplift sth tied to its other end, I focussed on the downward movement of the catches imagining I'd be doing the other hand's upward throwing movement with that catch movement of catchhand. In other words: Doing / thinking the throw by the countermovement of the opposite catching hand.   It seemed like the / my throws - in the yet normal pattern - were a bit earlier than the catches, so it felt like for doing as described above, throwhand had to shortly wait, delay a few millisecs (until catchhand got its ball to pull down). Or else - in a higher, slower pattern - I had to catch later for also the throw in question to be later. But I might be completely wrong, as it's unusual and difficult to focus on the catchmovement + other hand's throw at the same time. I did get that clear feeling / impression of ``pulling´´ the throws up with the opposite catch though.   Interesting tweaks of dwelltime and I'm not through with finding out exactly what goes on there and how to use it.
Tried blind a bit, but got too many drops.
3b 52413 - ~20 min.   (4 thrown reachover, so it looks like ongoing cascade)   went well in spite of a few drops.
A few minutes of 3b "fastest", rev--rev--normal--normal.
5b endure - ~20 min.   219, 373 throws longest runs.
7b casc - ~8 min. ( rain had stopped, but it was darkish and didn't feel warmed up well )   A hearty 23 throws run with good focus and rolling well for those two periods was best I could get from scratch. ( rest were bad launches and blunders )   [ daily7b II: 23 ]

120' + 75' - 5b rev casc - 87 (30'), 91, 105, 104, 82, 114, 101, 97, 112, .. , So, what or which is the "weakest element" of my 5b reverse cascade? - Dunno, ... in good phases with good patterns it seems, the issue in a given moment is simply relaxing and settling in that pattern versus losing the pattern there, maybe a casual slip, ... when i don't get it in bad phases, several issues might be that "weakest, worst element": maybe a slightly too bad height per beat ratio, maybe too little scoop to the outside a bad width, a too narrow pattern, gotta find out if can unless that "weakest element" is maybe dynamic and changes from time to time and pattern to pattern and is difficult to nail. If there is any such weakest elemment in my 5b revs, I'd expect it to be there both, in good and bad phases. Maybe it's simply my weaker hand doing wrong in any case. .. 91, //10' break//, 107, 93, 84, 95, 103, 93, 119, 93, 88 cl, 87 throws runs longer than 80 throws. [ 5b reverse cascade progress: 119 ]
It's going half well, though, - #chartread 5b rev casc - I've increased my average, just haven't gotten the very long runs (~150+ throws) like in spring, nothing way above that daily over 100 throws since over three weeks now.

/* - had not been scooping wide enough (got columns, several collisons), and also didn't focus on pattern's top well - not that I wouldn't have tried all the time .. simply didn't manage, it didn't work. - Guess, I was too much fixed on doing relaxed, gettin' the easiest way, with smaller pattern, thus smaller hand movements, thus smaller scoop, yet doing on good height, so, getting too narrow patterns. - Varying patterns a bit would have found that out earlier!? Also more awarely reflecting what kept me stuck at 73 throws would've. ( but, doing "easiest", which is imo an optimal way to practise, I never got the idea, there might be anything else that could improve my practise ) - More precisely: daring to free and move the arms, the elbows out wider a bit, instead instinctively keeping the pattern near with me (and trying to scoop more, but with arms stuck to the body), is the thing.

60' - 5b rev casc -

Systematically - easy going, no fights to keep up or sth - went through all kinds of focusses, ways of aiming, ways of thinking the pattern, modes indeed:

  1. - trapezium - throwing along the sides of a trapezium, with shared flightpoint high up - ~40 throws, .. it turned out, that focussing either on aiming the shared flightpoint or else on doing the throwing movement along the trapezium's sides in that angle are two different focusses

  2. - ``over´´ the pattern, along it's inner part - seeing where I'm throwing, what I'm doing + a second focus on height are better here, .. got ~24

  3. - similar: "to the middle", through an imagined horizontal ring, focus on where balls should land (less on right height) - chaotic, already a little landing spread disconcerts, useless without also scooping well (didn't even pay attention to balls on collision course) - had 21 throws

  4. - nice bowy weakhand throws (no matter anything else, but including height of the bows thrown course) - 24 t

  5. - along the high incoming ball - 47 cl, .. in case of bad timing gives unconstant height (corresponding to - in the moment that I throw and aim - .. to where the oriented on ball is, when, early or late, it's on a different height), .. is also pattern's top, i just realize, .. merged into remote controlling a top's 3b rev cascade!?

  6. - with active thumbs, in a scope of a) thumb in case helping or sustaining, stabilizing, to b) gripping every throw with also the thumb and it being active also at release; overall catching nearer to or in the palm then (rather than in a fingerbasket) - ~23 t?

Not easy or obvious to switch between mindstates or focusses.

40' - repeat:

  1. - trapezium, to shared flightpoint - 39, 41 throws

  2. - over the pattern - clear view, nothing to imagine, .. doesn't in any way enforce scooping well, .. maybe nothing to orient on when pattern (is about to) fall apart, .. 53 cl

  3. - similar: "to the middle" - not so good. ~16-20

  4. - whd leads, prio & focus on nice bowy whd throws - 47 cl, ~40?, 67, couldn't soon soon confirm this longest upto now run in this session

  5. a variation of this could be with prior focus on anything weakhand does, on nothing of that in particular, in no special distinct mode.

    35' -
  6. - along highest incoming ball / remote controlling a 3b rev cascade top - 49 throws (actually doing "over the pattern" here), .. one bad throw and your orientation is gone in this mode

  7. - active thumbs - 33 t

  8. - trapezium, along sides - 31, 31 ("over the pattern"), 53 t (loosely, merged into "over the pattern" again).

Too few data to draw any conclusions but from how it felt, what it seemed:
Above and before anything else, a well scooping weakhand needs be granted in the first place.
"remote control", "remote controlling only the 3 ball top", is most fun for sure, (it also downright asks for scooping, aiming, doing well in general), but needs a period or two of a good, stable pattern, and relaxed juggling first; first "doing along the high incoming ball" seems the easier exercise;
"over the pattern" was often what came merging; (also somewhat enforces good scoop, but still, nonetheless allows for too narrow patterns); seems to be the most direct, concise, the most obvious option within a small frame with best view on the whole;
"active thumbs" is in any case a good exercise for more options on finetuning and bail outs; it seems to entail low wide patterns (thus a bit more difficult, more challenging); also feels different, but makes a lot of sense to own as a technique;
"focus on weakhand only /whd leads / bowy throws" is a good necessary exercise;
.. but it remains unclear, how much a good pattern results from those ways, or else, is necessary to have it already gotten up rolling shortly, before even getting the opportunity to do in those ways (e.g. when going through imagining a trapezium).

25' - unrestricted, now, going for some result, high prio on whd scoop, now - 79 ("remote controlled 3b top" + "over & into the pattern" that was), 82 cl ("over & into"), 82 cl. [ 5b reverse cascade progress: 82 ]

[ 5b reverse cascade progress: 108 ]   #technique #endupatt #aiming #SoL - Got short phases with very relaxed low patterns, simply throwing over the pattern to the middle, or up to an outward aiming region in a slight inward angle, with some spacing to the rest of the pattern.   #focus #technique #endupatt - Then also sth queer once again: what was (often exaggerated) "wiggling" with the shoulderbelt in past practise units (to get over a bad start or bad phase), today was ( an impression of (?) .. ) actually aiming fromout the shoulder (especially for weakhand side), the shoulder helping, sort of either finetuning or else, providing for the blunt rough basic movement (to then be finetuned by forearm and wrist). But in any case, the shoulder taking part in or even actually doing the aiming (or thinking the aiming fromout the shoulder's movement, an awareness of it), if that makes sense and anyone can follow that impression (or maybe it's `mental´, however, it worked for a few runs).   Good practise, good yield, good feel .. gettin' there.
