# #PR, #efficiency, #structuredPractise, 170 minutes

7' - 5 prop mix, 4b1c - two times 6 rounds, once clean, an 8 rounds slipped to collapse. too short stints - doesn't really work well like that, seems inefficient.

92' + 71' - 5b rev casc \ varied - .. ~10 min big & rowing (37 t), then small & speedy (35 t), then pulsing, .. 111 (@ 25'), 180 (@ 30'), 121, 149, 124, 112, 119, 137, 129, 153, 179, 215 c cl (full caught no drop, but a last wronghand-catch, a self. new #PR), 116, 116, 195, //15'// 145, 130, 183, throws runs longer than 110 throws. 187' + 75' - 5b rev casc - 83 (12'), 83 cl, .. with more focus on angles, no columns, doing wider, lately, I've been neglecting pattern's top, overthrowing the last ball up, connecting left & right throws somehow. ( Else, i can only "Throw towards center line, but not over it!" ) That last ball up's apex or trajectory also needs to be anticipated as it's still on its way up when I do the next throw. ( In 5b regular cascade in compare, once a ball is past the middle, the tunnel for the next ball is wide open. ) Finding, then focussing on what exactly triggers the next throw, thus the entire rhythm, could be an effective approach for any pattern. .. , 111 (35'), 95, 91, 87, 95 cl, 87 cl, 104, .. one ball down -15 g to 35 g - exchanged it, .. 87, 111 cl, 85, 95, //10'//, 134, 83, 116 throws runs longer than 80 throws. 60' + 30' + 66' - 5b rev casc - 73 (30'), 76 (50'), 73, 73 cl, 71 cl, //5'//, 73 cl, 73 cl, //20'//, 72, 77 cl, 71 cl, 74 cl, 71, 93, /*, 93 throws. [ 5b reverse cascade progress: 93 ]
/* - had not been scooping wide enough (got columns, several collisons), and also didn't focus on pattern's top well - not that I wouldn't have tried all the time .. simply didn't manage, it didn't work. - Guess, I was too much fixed on doing relaxed, gettin' the easiest way, with smaller pattern, thus smaller hand movements, thus smaller scoop, yet doing on good height, so, getting too narrow patterns. - Varying patterns a bit would have found that out earlier!? Also more awarely reflecting what kept me stuck at 73 throws would've. ( but, doing "easiest", which is imo an optimal way to practise, I never got the idea, there might be anything else that could improve my practise ) - More precisely: daring to free and move the arms, the elbows out wider a bit, instead instinctively keeping the pattern near with me (and trying to scoop more, but with arms stuck to the body), is the thing.

# 5 ball tricks, #list, #exercises, #focus, #mentec, #StagesOfLearning, #efficiency, #endupatt, #ThinkAs, #structuredPractise, #reflecting, #technique, 160 minutes

[ daily7b II: 0 ]

60' - 5b rev casc -

Systematically - easy going, no fights to keep up or sth - went through all kinds of focusses, ways of aiming, ways of thinking the pattern, modes indeed:

  1. - trapezium - throwing along the sides of a trapezium, with shared flightpoint high up - ~40 throws, .. it turned out, that focussing either on aiming the shared flightpoint or else on doing the throwing movement along the trapezium's sides in that angle are two different focusses

  2. - ``over´´ the pattern, along it's inner part - seeing where I'm throwing, what I'm doing + a second focus on height are better here, .. got ~24

  3. - similar: "to the middle", through an imagined horizontal ring, focus on where balls should land (less on right height) - chaotic, already a little landing spread disconcerts, useless without also scooping well (didn't even pay attention to balls on collision course) - had 21 throws

  4. - nice bowy weakhand throws (no matter anything else, but including height of the bows thrown course) - 24 t

  5. - along the high incoming ball - 47 cl, .. in case of bad timing gives unconstant height (corresponding to - in the moment that I throw and aim - .. to where the oriented on ball is, when, early or late, it's on a different height), .. is also pattern's top, i just realize, .. merged into remote controlling a top's 3b rev cascade!?

  6. - with active thumbs, in a scope of a) thumb in case helping or sustaining, stabilizing, to b) gripping every throw with also the thumb and it being active also at release; overall catching nearer to or in the palm then (rather than in a fingerbasket) - ~23 t?

Not easy or obvious to switch between mindstates or focusses.

40' - repeat:

  1. - trapezium, to shared flightpoint - 39, 41 throws

  2. - over the pattern - clear view, nothing to imagine, .. doesn't in any way enforce scooping well, .. maybe nothing to orient on when pattern (is about to) fall apart, .. 53 cl

  3. - similar: "to the middle" - not so good. ~16-20

  4. - whd leads, prio & focus on nice bowy whd throws - 47 cl, ~40?, 67, couldn't soon soon confirm this longest upto now run in this session

  5. a variation of this could be with prior focus on anything weakhand does, on nothing of that in particular, in no special distinct mode.

    /break, 25'/

    35' -
  6. - along highest incoming ball / remote controlling a 3b rev cascade top - 49 throws (actually doing "over the pattern" here), .. one bad throw and your orientation is gone in this mode

  7. - active thumbs - 33 t

  8. - trapezium, along sides - 31, 31 ("over the pattern"), 53 t (loosely, merged into "over the pattern" again).

Too few data to draw any conclusions but from how it felt, what it seemed:
Above and before anything else, a well scooping weakhand needs be granted in the first place.
"remote control", "remote controlling only the 3 ball top", is most fun for sure, (it also downright asks for scooping, aiming, doing well in general), but needs a period or two of a good, stable pattern, and relaxed juggling first; first "doing along the high incoming ball" seems the easier exercise;
"over the pattern" was often what came merging; (also somewhat enforces good scoop, but still, nonetheless allows for too narrow patterns); seems to be the most direct, concise, the most obvious option within a small frame with best view on the whole;
"active thumbs" is in any case a good exercise for more options on finetuning and bail outs; it seems to entail low wide patterns (thus a bit more difficult, more challenging); also feels different, but makes a lot of sense to own as a technique;
"focus on weakhand only /whd leads / bowy throws" is a good necessary exercise;
.. but it remains unclear, how much a good pattern results from those ways, or else, is necessary to have it already gotten up rolling shortly, before even getting the opportunity to do in those ways (e.g. when going through imagining a trapezium).

25' - unrestricted, now, going for some result, high prio on whd scoop, now - 79 ("remote controlled 3b top" + "over & into the pattern" that was), 82 cl ("over & into"), 82 cl. [ 5b reverse cascade progress: 82 ]

# 7 balls, 3 heavy balls, 9 balls flashing, 5 ball tricks, #structuredPractise, 5 heavy balls, #technique, #efficiency, 5 balls, 220 minutes

[ Had my ``This Year's Day Off´´ yesterday. Hope, no one noticed. ]
3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 33 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 12 min.   120 throws wristy 6-high.   #technique,theory? - There's those minuscule moments when doing sports, where you relax muscles or bodyparts for a few millisecs .. when biking, it's when the leg is utterly stretched after pushing the pedal down (a right saddle-height is important for that), .. when swimming breast strokes, it's when for a few msecs after the stroke you let the pushed away water pass by after a stroke before doing next .. a.s.o. - those relaxing millisecs are also what I'm practising when doing "wristy" - when the hand can flap back relaxed after release  ( without overflapping uncontrolledly and hurting your wrist, that is, but merging with the hand's circling movement )  before reaching out for the next catch.
  335 5-high endured.
5b 56752 - 18 min.   A 9th, two 10th and a 12th side. Mostly tensed / forced for result, rather higher patterns  ( #structuredPractise - felt ``high & precise np´´ today, guess for doing right after using 5 heavy balls ).
#structuredPractise - Usually I do 9b right after the 5 heavy balls, but it's also good to do 7b right after 9b (where usually there's the 5b s'swap); changing schedule to doing 9b twice, like an usual full stint, then another just short one for 7b, might be an option  ( I don't think I want to do the 5b s'swap between two heavy ball stints, and not as overall first stint before then having to go `back down´ to `only´ 3 heavy balls. You know what I mean. ).
9b flashing - 27 min.   Almost everything to make it a pretty good stint: early four times 7 gathers; two(! more than once is very rare) times 8 gathers; and a few good (higher) ``rethrowable´´ patterns - just not enough of these and without a notable result.
7b casc - 120 min.   45, 51, 45, [longer break], 45 throws longest runs. (dulled away a good part of that stint - could've more really "went for it" )   [ daily7b II: 51 ]
5b fastest - 10 min.   Good, but too much going on eye-height and higher, and no very long run (maybe 30+ throws?).

# 7 balls, #efficiency, 3 heavy balls, 5 ball tricks, 5 heavy balls, 202 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 43 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 6 min.
5b 56752 - 27 min. Upto two 9th sides.
Covered my spot with weed here against dusty soil. (=./.17min)
7b casc - 126 min. ("49-day" today:) 43, 49, 49, 43, 52, 47, 49, [break], 48, 59 throws longest runs. Good yield, and mostly felt good too.
#efficiency - At one distinct moment, it was like a sudden switch made me have to do with effort from one good run during a good phase to another few effortish ones; couldn't for the heck tell what exactly I was now doing differently. Horrified by the prospect of being plunged into a long bad archaic phase of dark mystic dusky "hoping-for-a-good-run", but only riding myself deeper and deeper into the mud and exhausting myself and klutzing worse and worse, I held on to think on how to fight this repellent vision, and so then tried to do e-ve-ry-thing right and I found back into halfway smooth, nimble "cascading"(!), or at least the right mindset again, after only a few attempts. .. This was really a thoughtworthy moment, as it meant the difference between good and bad practise at my current stage and I was left without insight to the cause, but at least now have somewhat of a remedy ( Do e-ve-ry-thing right!, orient and focus on aiming well into pattern's top no matter what!, keep pattern near me and do from flapping wrists. .. Now, all that's not really new, but I tend to forget or simply not do it for whatever reason ). It wouldn't be the first time, that I find (or get told) what I've been doing wrong and got me stuck all the time only after a clear improvement, retrospective then (had that before with e.g. "not scooping"). # 3 heavy balls, #otu, 7 balls, #efficiency, #endupatt, 5 ball tricks, 5 heavy balls, 7 balls splits, 315 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 120 min.   #otu - bx into 90° turn; got it a couple of times once all around (four turns to 360°) turning into stronghand's bx, then with weakhand's once around too.   Ell-roll-flicks(?) - got about 10 in a 4-count, only two in a 2-count, so `folded´ the 2-count.   Some work on past under the other arm throws (upto in a 3-count, and caught in a mix of claws and-or penguins)
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 10 min.
5b 56752 - 63 min.   Three times 6 sides clean. One 8th side to collapse.
7b splits - 10 min.   12 c cl. 9 duplex thrown to collapse.
7b casc - 112 min.   Tried to focus on getting best easiest pattern and technique, going to early collects - feels much more effective -, easy going also, instead exhausting on result, and got 43, 47, 69 (unsuspected, surprising, right after I `woke up´ from a rather dull phase), 59 (gorgeous run, smooth, easy, untensedly snapped-in) throws longest runs, plus a half-of-it counted run at least 43 th maybe 49.   [ daily7b II: 69 ]

3' 5b warmup.
5b 52567 - 12 min.   No great yield (4th and 5th sides), but okay for short stint and it felt okay.
8b wimpy - 20 min.   #SoL, #technique, #otu, #efficiency - remembered I did too narrow last time, so wanted to use width better; on that behalf, other than usual, did the first pair of throws to collect for calibration once or twice to make sure I wouldn't be throwing ``somewhere up somehow´´, which was very helpful!?   10 catches clean, awkard last 2 catches with several contacts tilting them up before catching them arm to body, new #PR, and confirmed soon after. Further 8 c cl twice, 9 gathers, 12 throws.
7b casc - 115 min.   41, 51, 41, 53, 47 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 53 ] 4 gathers on an impulsive 7 up 180° - maybe not impossible.
5b fastest - 10 min.

#conditions - partly in the rain, made balls slip when wet or stick to hands when slightly moist.
