There's the inverted box with the columns switched and I've seen it done with the 'zip' switched. But never, as far as I'm aware, both switched together. Is this possible? Has it been done and I missed it or perhaps didn't spot it?

So your hands would be crossed all the time, still move up and down? Sounds like a challenge I wouldn't get myself into :p. I'd imagine that your forearm is likely to collide with the columns and with each other... But sure go for it :p

Can you link me a vid of an inverted box with switched zip?

Here's the zip switched inv box. I think I saw Mike Moore doing it recently too.

As for the switched columns and zip, I found an animation:

I just saw box box volume 3 appear in my insta feed and had to think of this thread of course! Is that you in the videos? Nice stuff!

That's not me. Alex Rozanov is his name (apologies, should've mentioned his name). I can run an inv-box with the switched columns but the switched zip looks considerably more difficult. I just saw the latest video. Truly bizarre that this new video (with both columns *and* zip switched) was posted just a few hours after my original question! I'm pretty sure that's the first time it's been done, really crazy stuff.

Isn't it an old Murakami pattern? I'd have to go through his videos, but I think it was in one of the "Patterns" series...I want to say as the opening pattern. IIRC, he did the columns higher than (IMO) ideal.

Bed time now, but I'll check tomorrow if it doesn't turn up before then.

The first place I looked was those videos, there are quite a few so I may have missed it. Do you mean the one with the hill in the background? Patterns 7. As amazing as this is, it's slightly different as the ball doesn't stay above the columns? All these are several notches ahead of me.. I find it difficult to get my head around them!

Wow, revisiting that series was refreshing. So sad that they all have <7k views.

My memory had the first pattern in Patterns 7 as the cross-columned and cross 2xed inverted box you describe. Looking at it now...not the case! It's some kind of high-low variation (try following the 4s...they're actually 4xs, then passed between hands). Which makes me think he's done it but not posted it. Rewatching these, I can much better see the direction that Murakami was going in and I'm pretty sure that he must have come across it.

That said, I'll make the bold statement that I got 4 catches of the pattern you describe a couple summers ago! I should probably revisit it now that my technical skills might have caught up to that beastly pattern.

I had to slow that right down to see what you meant. It's all so inside-out and back-to-front already but now with the swap between hands.. I'll blow a juggling chip if I think about it too much. The 'full' switched inv box looks very difficult. The columns and the zip 'meeting' in the top corners - it looks very problematic to run properly. That said, no one is in a better position to do it than you. I'd love to see it!

Hah, I'd also love to see it! Thanks for reminding me that it exists, I'll try to carve out some time to get at it soon. These days most of my juggling is in preparation for my Cleveland Fest act, and them I'm off to Japan for 20 days!
