This popped up on the circusgeeks blog, I thought I'd post it here in case there are people interested who don't follow circusgeeks (although you really should)
Maybe a link to the Circusgeeks blog would give the people not following it even less of an excuse not to

This was very fun to watch. Karl-Heinz' dialect and way of behavior is berlin-esque to a point where it get's comedic. He talks about how incredibly amazing, unbelievable, unique the feats are that Anthony performs in a tone of voice that seems like he doesn't give a shit and he couldn't talk about anything more boring.
I have his book "Juggling, the Art and its Artists" at home, it has lots of beautiful pictures. The inside of the cover reads "Karl-Heinz Ziethen, born in Berlin 1944, worked as merchant seaman and after as a juggler in late 1960's.", that means he would be 71 by now, is he still alive?
In the video he says he had to stop juggling because of an illness, does anybody know more about this?
Also this thread on Karl-Heinz at Anthony's forum was kind of hilarious to read, as well.
Anthony says "He would not be interested to join this forum at all. He is even less tolerable than I or Dick about some of the things going on with juggling.". Having read about how Dick tries to censor juggling video material, I'm curious about what those "things" are that are "going on with juggling"?
Karl is still alive and working on another book. He isn't on the internet much at all and doesn't even have an email address. The injury was to his leg. I want to know what happened to those Rastelli sticks. Karl has given away or sold all of his prop collection, so they're somewhere. I'm desperately looking for a Rastelli prop for the juggling museum.

David, in the clip Gatto claims to be the first person to 'show 6 clubs'. That's an exaggerated claim, right?
Certainly. John Breen performed 6 clubs at least as early as 1909. Alexander Kiss and Albert Petrovski performed six clubs in the 1960s. Of course Rastelli did six sticks in the 1920s. I could name many others, but yes, it was not a correct statement at all.

Being generous, he may have meant he was the youngest to perform 6 clubs, which seems much more feasible.
Anthony clearly says "I'm the first person to do this" 16:09, and Karl-Heinz comments "des hat noch kein Jongleur jeschafft" 16:27, which translates "nobody has achieved this yet".

Karl heinz is talking about "in den luft zu halten, des hat noch kein Jongleur jeschafft", keeping them in the air. Perhaps they are talking about qualifying/running vs flashing (to the best of their knowledge). How is it with proof that Breen, Kiss and Petrovski went beyond flashes?

Kiss gets at least 6 catches here before handing one club off to an assistant and carrying on with 5

Ok, so not a huge run, but it's an excuse to repost one of my favourite all time juggling acts.

I count 9 catches. There is no doubt about his ability to have done more of course, but I wonder if KHZ knew or counts this as 'juggling' in a performance.
KHZ probably missed a lot of data, he has also claimed that Ignatov was the first to flash 11 rings for example.
Well, surely Karl was aware of Breen doing 70 catches with 7 clubs, so I think it's safe to assume he could run 6 clubs. Karl was surely aware of many who could do 6 clubs. Don't know why he would say that.

then indeed his comment makes no sense at all...
