Lestival 5!
Lestival - the 6th Leicester Circus Festival!
This important message has been liberally plastered all over teh interwebs :-
Hi all,
Well, we've been been keeping ourselves very much to ourselves up until now, but Lestival VI is just one short week away. May the 4th be with you!
This year Lestival falls on May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day. Consequently there will be free lightsabers for everyone attending. Hurrah! Please use them responsibly and try not to chop your granny in half when you get home.
As usual we have all the goodies you've come to expect - our spiffy juggling space with its stoopid high ceilings, games, traders, choons, the fantastic café, WiFi (if the venue remembers the password), and an evening show hosted by Gandini Juggling Project stalwart Jon Udry, and friends.
The ticket prices remain the same, topping out at £8 for an all-day adult ticket.
We'll be open from 10-10 and we'd love to see lots and lots of you there.

I'm led to believe (by Jay Linn amongst others) that this is a wonderful convention that you all wish to attend. As an added bonus I will not be there (again).

#Lestival5 was good fun.
Act highlights for me were Jamie Fletcher's hilarious/brilliant 3 ball routine (excellent knee-dancing that man!) and Dave Bonkers Kelly's ball tricks and racket-and-ball stuff. There was one 5-ball-and-2-rackets-in-one-hand trick that had be bemused and amazed. But the show highlight for me was Guy's compèring. Hilarious, bizarre and measured at various times, his cotton-wool transformation from Guy to..... Er... Guy (!) , and his Fledgling Bird act will live long in my memory.
On arrival, I was asked to run a workshop (in kendama, and not Eurovision, as I originally confusedly thought), and got some raffle tickets as a reward. One of which was duly transmuted into a box of posh chocolates later. :-)
Pete and Jay managed to spend 5 minutes putting a downer on the show with their L!-organisers resignation, when it could have been done in 60 seconds in a more joyous manner. However, ave atque vale to them both for the last 5 years.
Great coffee, company, kendama, cake, and couches. Cheers all!
#bbu next....
I also had an excellent time and would echo the Void's comments re the show, great to see Guy Heathcote on stage, how big must his wardrobe be? and Jamie, fantastic routine.
I hope someone does take it one next year as its one of my favourite venues having pretty much everything you need for a one dayer.

Lestival, the Leicester Circus Festival , is back for its fifth year!
BJC is out of the way, and that means that Lestival, the Leicester Circus Festival is just a few short weeks away. Because BJC was relatively late this year we only have three weeks to wait until Lestival! Saturday 5th May is the date. See the website ffi.
The time has therefore come to announce some of our goodies. The show : This year your compère will be the redoubtable twenty-five time BJC attendee, Guy Heathcote, who is remarkably turning his hand to running a show for the very first time. As with all shows the line up won't be finalised until the last act has been cheered off stage, but to whet your appetites I'm delighted to let you all know that our acts include :-
Rachel Black's luscious hula hooping. She stormed our first ever show and we're chuffed to have her back again.
... and we are still hoping to spring another surprise or two.
In addition we will be providing all the usual Lestival favourites, first and foremost of which is the mighty Lestival café, purveying high quality refreshments and caffeine-based stimulants for super-friendly prices; our traders this year will be Butterfingers who have kindly stepped in whilst Barbara from Beard, our regular trader, convalesces after her recent surgery; there will be the usual range of games, choons, workshops, and so on, and we hope to twist Mats Cornelius arm to treat us to a few numbers on the grand piano; two tightwires will be available to play on/fall off of; and of course we are overdue for some spiffy spring weather which will absolutely 100% money-back guaranteed* to be utterly splendid.
Since the event is taking place in the bank holiday weekend a few of us (largely the middle aged geeks, Billy-no-mateses, and anyone with small boys in tow) will be heading over to Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome on Sunday to watch an assortment of cold war metal go through its paces, including a pub lunch at a suitable hostelry, perhaps the Chandlers Arms at Shearsby, which is enjoying its third consecutive year as Leicestershire CAMRA Country Pub of the Year.
So, stop dithering, grab your toys and your significant other, jump in the car and join in the fun. Mail enquiries@leicesterjugglers.org if you need to ask about a place to stay, want to give or request a workshop, or have anything else to contribute.
Thanks for reading, we look forward to seeing you all there.
* First £8 of each ticket not guaranteed. Sorry.
