# 7 balls, 5 ball tricks, 5 balls, 7 balls splits, 208 minutes

5b casc varied - 13 min.   high.   wristy\\unwristy.   Single reachovers ( a column, that then later clawed reaching over, and claw-thrown-as-caught as column back to pattern ((and hurry back to that hand's normal side for the next normal catch)) ) - got one back to cascade.   fastest.
5b 52567 - 40 min.   An early 10 sides clean. Several 8th sides. Two 9th sides to collapse.
7b casc - 137 min.   After again being haunted by a doubting demon, if I'd ever again improve at all (!?), it became a normal stint at last with acceptable yield and some good smooth runs. Did - on its own, each - "pull the pattern near my body, soas as to seem it being right above me", then "make sure, every single throw is on minimum height", then - as good patterns allowed for it - "simply aim up left-right"-left-a.s.o., very simply cascady. 49, 45, 51, 55, 45, 45, 43, 43, 45 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 55 ]
7b splits - 3 min.   Bad, droppy, inaccurate - preferred to do sth else ..
5b fastest - 15 min.   Upto around 40 throws. One long run twisted my torso about 90° and I had to bend knees, slightly pivot and lift heels, but the run went on.

A short crispy thunderstorm's thunders were so sudden and bursting loud, that it seemed, this whole region was meant to now be erased.

# 7 balls, 5 ball tricks, 3 heavy balls, 5 heavy balls, 233 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 22 min.   "As wide as can", horizontal, nearly straight throws: starting normal, upto stronghand arm almost outstretched, weakhandarm much less. Stretching out weakhand only as an exercise didn't work at all - better go into wider and wider with both.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 13 min.   167 throws 5-high; 197 c cl 6-high.
5b 52567 - 78 min.   Several 8th sides, also early ones, partly clean. Later two 9th sides, to breakdown and full caught, and two 10th sides, full caught and clean.
7b casc - 120 min.   41, 41, 43 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 43 ] Way below both, general and daily, expectations (weather, conditions, form again good).

# vision research, 1 minutes

Idea for juggling data set:

Imagine a magical set of balls. The balls change to red when touched with the left hand, and stay red until they are touched with the right hand. When they are touched with the right hand, they turn green, and stay green until they are touched by the left hand.

This would be really helpful for analyzing a juggling graph. If all the green peaks were lower than the red peaks, it would be obvious that the throws from the right hand were lower than the throws from the left hand.

Using various methods (finding local maxima in velocity or finding local maxima in x position) I can accurately determine when a ball is touched by a hand, I can also determine which hand touches the ball.

But how should I go about this? So many interesting questions!!!

# 7 balls, 7 ball tricks, 5 ball tricks, 3 heavy balls, 5 heavy balls, 240 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 27 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 17 min.   ~200 throws low pattern.
5b 56752 - 60 min.   Several 8 sides' runs, some clean. One or two 9th sides to collapse. One 12th side to collapse is among longest runs ever.
7b tricks - 10 min.   Wasn't planned, simply stuck to playing with other throws when launches came well and into good patterns. From cascade, tried   9955   but didn't get any 5 aimed anywhere. Got a   27[75]  into i think 6 more throws of cascade then clean collected (among my - if not the - first 7b-``trick´´ ever landed). Felt like also daring a   977777707[75]   and got the double catch, but not the throw and pattern collapsed.
7b casc - 125 min.   Only 45, 45 throws longest runs. (weather, conditions, form all good)   A few good smooth and-or fluent short runs.   [ daily7b II: 45 ]

Worked one some of Daniel Simu's data. The video that he provided was actually not that great in resolution, but the contrast between the balls and the rest of the frame was excellent. My tracking programs worked much better on Daniel's video than on the ones that I had recorded in higher resolution! The tracker got lost only a few times.

I need to record a short clip of 5b cascade to compare myself to him. I also need to figure out how to compare his data to mine. I am left with a lot of questions, but am interested and excited.

Daniel's data:

# 7 balls, 5 ball tricks, #StagesOfLearning, 3 heavy balls, 5 heavy balls, 7 balls splits, 242 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 25 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 15 min.   119 throws ~6 high. ~275 th 5-high (rather low).
5b 25675 - 55 min.   #SoL - again, ( like earlier for even getting the pattern kept up like about over 4 sides ), spotted slightly delayed, it seemed, too late 5-s right after the crescendo, so then thought and did the rhythm as   | 5675 | 2 |   with focus on that 5 instantly following the crescendo.   After getting at most 7th and 8th including clean sides, then also got a 9th and a 10th sides to collapse each.
My elbow and some ``selves'-sinew´´ sitting at it, nudged and asked for doing sth else ..
7b splits - 12 min.   Upto 9 duplex thrown twice. Nothing clean. Working some on spreading \ splitting well.
7b casc - 135 min.   47, 47, 49 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 49 ]

Warm up

4 clubs:
Fountain, doubles

Siteswap 5 as doubles:
552
55550, didn't get more than 6 catches.
50505

...had to stop for a long break (that later turned into lunch break) earlier than I had planned to, because of abdominal pain.

# 4 clubs, 15 minutes

Siteswap 5 as doubles: Mostly 55550. Got 8 catches the best round.

# 5 clubs, 30 minutes

Trying to do a flash. Failing, but it felt a lot better than last time. This time it was often good enough to be able to think about what was wrong.
Common problems: 2nd throw being a bit high, 4th throw being too low, 4th and 5th throw landing too far in front of me (probably meaning that I don't have enough time to do a good throw), 5th throw very low.
Best attempt: Caught the first 3, touched number 4, caught number 5. Was moving forward quite a bit for the last two though.

# 3 clubs, 4 clubs, 45 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 25 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 7 min.   255 throws varying on heights.
9b flashing - 12 min.   Bad. <=6 gather. Moskitos disturbing, searched 5 mins for a ball lost in the grass, washed the balls (for them to be brighter when searching them in the grass), then decided to quit 9b under such conditions for today.
5b 52567 - 55 min.   Upto 8th and 9th sides. Okay stint.
7b casc - 110 min.   Only a 43 and a 47 throws longest runs.   ( .. and again lost time searching a ball in the grass. )   [ daily7b II: 47 ]

# 7 balls, 5 ball tricks, #PR, #outstandingRuns, 5 balls, 258 minutes

5b endure - 10 min.   From cold, did until a 500+ throws run - took ten minutes. Got ~525 th.
5b casc varied - 20 min.   9-high a few.   Then, same idea as above, getting long ednured runs and the corresponding feel and technique and mindset, did wristy 7-high wanting like 200 throws (about double of what I currently want with 7b); dunno how long it took, but after several attempts got 197 throws.   A bit "fastest" too.
5b 52567 - 68 min.   Upto two 9th sides, one of which full caught, three 10th sides, one of which full caught. Then 14 sides with one last drop = new #PR 55 catches. #outstandingRuns - The run was forced, slaving to rhythm and heights as good as I could without really controlling anything. Also a slight drift left ahead took me walking around and away from my spot in a big half circle not seeing where I was stepping on those bold cobbles needing to do every step ``individually´´ so to say. Didn't learn anything from that run, yet hopefully my subconscious will on occasion remember how to keep this pattern up even longer. Couldn't confirm, so no ``breakthrough´´, but good stint with good yield and some smooth shorter runs, and glad this is moving on.
Had chosen a spot (under the bridge) on the other riverside, where I happened to originally start to work on just this pattern about a year ago.
7b casc - 150 min.   43, 45, 45, 48, 65, [short snackbreak and lie down two minutes], 51, 49 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 65 ]
5b fastest - 10 min.   No long runs.

# 7 balls, 60 minutes

Ran 7b. cascade for 100 catches (clean finish) twice. Feels really solid, easier without terrible seasonal allergies.

# vision research, 1 minutes

Read a couple of papers:

Functional Analysis of Juggling Trajectories (http://www.gribblelab.org/publications/2013_EJS_ramsay.pdf).

Using the OPTITRACK, measurements of the position of a hand during juggling were taken. Different from my approach of measuring the position of the balls. An interesting graph was the velocity and acceleration of the hand. So far, I have only been looking at position, but I should make graphs that show velocity and acceleration as well.

Analysis of juggling data: Landmark and continuous registration of juggling trajectories: https://projecteuclid.org/download/pdfview_1/euclid.ejs/1414588170:

Uses the same data set as the previous paper. The average cycle time in this data seat is 712 milliseconds. Some cycles were faster, and some slower, due to variations in how high the balls were thrown. This paper explains how to register all the cycles to a constant 712 milliseconds.

# 7 balls, 9 balls flashing, 5 ball tricks, 3 heavy balls, 5 heavy balls, 236 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 18 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 5 min.   ~150 throws 5-high.
9b flashing - 40 min.   Five times 7 gathers, one of which should count as 8 g as it were three rebounds before drop, the pattern surely an ``8 gather pattern´´.   Much better than yesterday .. no idea what the difference was .. .   Also two rethrows once, which is always important for staying tuned to the ``real´´ pattern.
5b 52567 - 43 min.   Upto a few 8 sides, one or two of which clean, and an ugly last rounds' throws' 9th side full caught.
7b casc - 130 min.   Only a 47 and 43 throws longest runs. Rest 40 and below.   A few short phases felt pretty poised again .. but that's not enough. One longer rather unfresh hard phase .. got through it by kind'a doing awaiting, "preparing for when air will cool down later" (which I knew it would). I wonder if it would make sense to do sth else in such phases, like maybe endure 5b or start doing 6b goodfor7b s'swaps.   [ daily7b II: 47 ]

# 3 clubs, 4 clubs, 70 minutes

Warm up

4 clubs:
Fountain, doubles
534534 and back to fountain, can't blame the wind today (since I was indoors) but at least I didn't need as many attempts as yesterday to get it once from each hand.

3 clubs:
1up 360, not as good as last time I tried (but I had not done it for a few weeks now), at least I got it some times. Still only doing right-handed triple and turning to the right.

Trying to do a flash. Failing. It feels like I'm not making progress, rather like it's worse than it was some weeks ago, but I have not practiced with 5 much lately and I recently changed to circus grip in my left hand so that might make it a bit harder, too.

# 7 balls, #season, 9 balls flashing, 5 ball tricks, 3 heavy balls, 5 heavy balls, #nature, 270 minutes

( great weather, not too warm plus some wind, partly a bit fresh even. good form. )
3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 17 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 5 min.
9b flashing - 25 min.   Bad. Not over 6 gathers. Not speedy enough, inaccurate.
5b 52567 - 62 min.   A good bunch 6th, two or three 7th, and several 8th sides one of which clean. Also one 11th side plus two throws into 12th side; surely a top 3 or top 4 best runs ever; but I couldn't get even near confirming, so I'll rate it as an ``irrational´´ peak run or a ``purely statistical outbreaker´´ and anyway still far away from where I want to overall be with that pattern.
7b casc - 162 min.   45, 57, [ short break, 10+ min, snack and lie down two minutes ], 47 cl, 46 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 57 ]   #season - Also here: not happy with a lack of palpable progress ( that I've been hoping on since spring, delayed since gorgeous runs and yields last fall, cf. 7b entry Sept, 2016 ) .. am getting too few very good very long runs to get any increased training effect on them.

#nature - swallows - not much lacking and they'll fly right through my higher patterns.

# 3 clubs, 30 minutes

It was warmer outside than I thought it would be (should have brought a water bottle), moved to a place in the shade.

Must have caught a club badly in the beginning of the practice, because many catches hurt a bit for most of the time. Just a sore spot, but it took away some of the juggling joy today.

Warm up

52413
1up 2up singles
1up 2up doubles
55113
A few head rolls and backcrosses

# 4 clubs, 35 minutes

Evening juggling after a lazy day at home

Warm up

Fountain, doubles
534534 and back to fountain did not work, only got it once after trying a lot. Maybe I can blame the wind for some of the drops, but not all of them.

Fountain, doubles again, decided that I need to practice not moving around while juggling 4. I think I got about 100 catches one time when I cheated a little bit, but the best round where I didn't move my feet at all was 64 catches. Not too bad.

# 3 clubs, 10 minutes

Thought I should practice some sync stuff. Remembered the pattern that T taught us a while ago... He thought of it as a "synchronous version of 441", I'd say it is (6,4)(0,2x)* as (double, single)(empty, zip)*. Best round: 6 times to collect (3 on each side, starting with 2 clubs in my right hand). Also got 6 times into a seventh attempt once, and 4 times into cascade.

+ just a few throws of 423 and of 1up 2up singles
