# vision research, 1 minutes

I have been thinking about the injury that Peter Bone sustained while juggling: link to thread about topic. I want to provide him with the best text based remote diagnosis over the internet possible, so I have done some research into his injury.

Using the same tracking programs from the Juggling Data Set, I created this: pose estimation of 2 ball juggling.

I am not sure how to interpret this, but I believe that it would be useful to show that just after a ball is caught, the tricep fires, pulling the hand down. This rapid downward movement of the hand can put lots of pressure on the ulnar collateral ligament if the bicept is not relaxed.

My diagnosis is a torn UCL, and my treatment recommendation is ulnar reconstructive surgery (also known as Tommy John Surgery) where a ligament is taken from the leg of a cadaver and implanted into the arm. Tommy John Surgery is used effectively for Major League Baseball pitches, who often see in increase in velocity after the surgery.

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 30 min.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 5 min.   Wristy 6-high (below 50 th).   136 th 5-high.
9b flashing - 18 min.   Two times 7 gathers, one on stint's first launch. An 8 gathers launch.   A few unreasonable, but fun rethrows (in beat, but with gaps, while dropped already).
5b 56752 - 10 min.   One each, 7, 8 and 9 sides runs.
7b casc - 123 min.   (41, 41, 41, 41), ~45+ (uncounted estimated), 43, 58 (nice and smooth run, but °whew° for only good result today), 43, throws longest runs. (hard concentrating with moskitoes bouncing onto and into eyelashes, eyelids, ears an' everywhere)   [ daily7b II: 58 ]

# 7 balls, 3 heavy balls, 9 balls flashing, 5 ball tricks, 5 heavy balls, 4 ball tricks, #StagesOfLearning, 230 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 43 min.   Special attention today for my "fastest"-pattern, but big & slow; other than assumed, it's not   rev--normal--normal,   but   rev--rev--normal--normal   ( took a while to find out, as the first rev is almost a slam .. puzzling ). Also tried   rev--rev--normal   which was pretty puzzling ( upto ~3 rounds only ).
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 5 min.   88, 128 cl wristy 6-high.   192 th normal 5-high (~head-high + 1 handwidth).
9b flashing - 28 min.   iv 7 gathers' launches.
5b 56752 - 16 min.   Two 8th sides. Two 9th sides. One 10th side(?), i think.
4b 66161 - 3 min.   Messy, bad, maybe sort of 6--6--1--6--[collapse]. Tried 626262626262..6616[a.s.o.], (start from 1hd 3b), but was even worse with that get-in being puzzling on top of getting it anyway not.
7b casc - 134 min.   45, [break], 51, 47, 51 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 51 ]
in between, after break, for re-warmup, a bit (2-3min?) more 4b-66161 .. #SoL - " feed every empty hand ! "  ( + " throw a 6 with every full or just fed hand! ", or: " get rid of everything with a 6 ! " ((when no hand is empty)) )  seems to work just great, so far  ( got like [launch]--661616616--[collapse or collect] or so iirc ).

# 7 balls, #StagesOfLearning, #endupatt, 3 heavy balls, 5 ball tricks, 9 balls flashing, 3 clubs basics, 3 clubs tricks, 5 heavy balls, 5 balls, 315 minutes

3c basics - 5 min   298 doubles (tensed, one fight with halves amidst run). 36 triples. Quads bad.
3c tricks - 5 min   Two to three rounds of 441. ( had hurt the insideward middle limb/joint of my middlefinger on quads and didn't feel 100% secure anymore, so skipped 34530 )
3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 70 min.   Today's ``stuck with´´ went to all up + 90° - got it uglily twice; to 441 - worked myself up to 12-13 rounds; and to variations of reachovers ( Singles in #n-count. Half-a-windmill like clawed 3-counts. Doubles = two columns = two reachovers. )
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 5 min.   113 throws wristy 6-high.   157 th comfortable head-high 5-high.
9b flashing - 43 min.   iv times 7 gathers. Droppy; many slips on dusty ground.
5b 56752 - 55 min.   Two times 8 sides, one of which clean. Two times 9 sides. Once 12 sides to collapse.
7b casc - 127 min.   43 throws was longest run. #SoL #endupatt - Hardly got over that strange attractor hurdle at about 33-35 throws; often a drift into too wide went into collapse there, but when scooping more to inside, I had too slow handspeed and got early landing balls in even shorter runs. ( no full fresh form, no unleashed arms, .. dunno what to blame ) Maybe not ``speedy´´ enough in mind; also didn't vary a lot, high & slow \ low & fast, soas to find a good in-between ..   [ daily7b II: 43 ]
5b casc, reverse casc - 5 min.

# 3 clubs, 4 clubs, 95 minutes

Warm up

4 clubs:
Fountain, doubles
534534 and back to fountain, better than yesterday, didn't take as many attempts to get it.
53 with the 3 as a backcross, once and back to fountain. Hadn't done this in a while. Got it at least once from each hand. Also tried to do twice and back to fountain, but failed.

Kick-up from 3c cascade to 4c fountain

3 clubs:
531
45123
531 with the 3 as a backcross, once and back to cascade worked most of the time, twice was difficult
423 (double, thumb roll, backcross)

1up 2up singles
2 in one hand on singles
1up 2up doubles

# passing, 70 minutes

(With S)
ppppz
Programming/improvising, one of us only doing passes and zips, the other one choosing between ppppz, pppf, pps, ph, or just a triple (or any number of triples, S tried to do 3 but we didn't get that). S also did ppsph a few rounds. I mostly did 1-2 rounds of pppf or pps before going back to ppppz, but tried ph too.

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 60 min.   Consecutive claws.   Once around into stronghand throws' direction with bx + 90°.
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 3 min.   107 throws wristy 6-high.   241 throws comfortable 5-high.
9b flashing - 55 min.   Twelve times 7 gathers, only one of which clearly almost 8 g.   A few times two good rethrows.   Another "something is possible"-stint, but didn't happen.
5b 56752 - 35 min.   An 8th and a 9th sides' run, both to collapse. A 10 sides' run full caught (ugly last round's throws).
7b casc - 147 min.   43, 45, 43, 45, 49, 43, 43 cl, 61, 44 throws longest runs.   [ daily7b II: 61 ]

# 7 balls, #otu, 9 balls flashing, #mentec, #conditions, 5 ball tricks, #StagesOfLearning, 3 heavy balls, 5 heavy balls, 240 minutes

3b 200gr, freestyle, misc - 22 min.   Behind back can't seem to get them in a fast count, only 5-count at most, let alone consecutives (impossible so far).  "Fastest".
5 heavy balls, 200 gr casc - 3 min.   160 throws wristy 6-high, also smooth, rather untensed. (i think, this is important for enduring 7b cascade, .. i will later think: "Keep going just like with these").   239 throws comfortable 5-high.
9b flashing - 35 min.   Three times 7 gathers. Two times 8 g in reach. Also some good upto 3 rethrows again. Something really seemed possible today.   #SoL #mentec - hard to explain, but i think, it works best to sort of visualize the pattern running on height right before launching  ( instead trying rhythms and heights for each pair (stronghand throwing, weakhand following) of balls launched, and instead of working on tuning, calibrating and coordinating a lot on merely the launch itself ),  or just imagine and visualize a good height, then orientate on that `result´ of the launch when launching, sort of anticipating all balls up and intending to focus on feeding the top. Maybe this goes with focussing more on the later throws sort of `fulfilling´ that intention. (if all that makes sense).   #conditions - the meadow was just a tiny bit moist making the balls only slightly sticky (not too much) - which was bad for fast stuff with few balls before - but now it prevented unwanted double-multi-releses and was now also good for catching with much fewer slips and better grip. ( I was prepared to skip my 5b s'swap stint for those very good 9b conditions and good form that i also had, but rain came, so left it at that. )
5b 56752 - 32 min. [under bridge, now]   A few 8th sides. Two 9th sides. Best clean was 7 sides.   #SoL - I don't need so much focus on emphasizing the 6-es anymore, so i shift between those and not delaying the sidechange-5 (or actually focus on both those throws' turn). I'm that way also getting a 5675 | 2 rhythm again (not that "two high throws over two low throws"-stuff 525 | 67 or what else i had there before), which works good and feels fluent once i found into pattern. Also those 2-s now indeed feel like a "pause" (not like some unclear uncontrolled necessity of the s'swap that needs built in somehow without a good feeling for its timing).
7b casc - 142 min.   61 (60 c), 49, 75 cl (or 76 cl? wonderful smooth run, no real fighting needed), 59 cl, [short break], (nothing after break), throws longest runs. wow! what a yield .. weather was almost chilly unless you moved which i did, so great temperatures for juggling.   #otu - A few attempts on reverse cascade in between: no chance doing reverse right after launch throws, but then did one try with one period of regular cascade after launch and only then switch into reverse which went much better (6 gathers); so, that's the plan, and looking foreward to casually trying this again and getting a round or two clean.       [ daily7b II: 75 ]
5b fastest - 5 min.
