The Juggling School

Anthony Gatto's latest venture is a juggling school!

I wonder whether it will stick mainly to technical coaching or will branch out into other areas? Either way, my money's on it being controversial.

Interesting. I can see a certain portion of the juggling community lapping this up, a certain portion giving it nodding appreciation and most of the rest going "meh!"

It looks like an interesting idea though, and is probably worth pointing the occasional byjoty entrant towards

Sneaky, you have to pay $4.95 to be able to contact the teachers and post in the forum, that's before paying for anything else.

Has anyone signed up as a free member yet to see what that does get you (other than emails)?

Yes, undoubtedly, shortly before returning to their dark, dank bedrooms to PRACTICE spinny whizzes. But I haven't, since I have a pathological distrust of advance fee services. Hey ho, the truth will probably out.

Having had a look at the prices, anyone serious about it would probably find a circus school cheaper in the long run. $65 for feedback on 1 or 2 tricks.

I think it's aimed at people who have been performing a while who want to take their existing routine up a notch or two. I would expect that target group to have a clearly defined idea of what they want, in a way that circus school may not fit them.

Still, there's some interesting naval gazing coming out of the blog for free, we'll see how long it stays in my RSS reader...

...& that's just for the bronze package, from which we can assume silver, gold, platinum memberships are also on offer.

Interesting indeed.

I remember an "Ask Nick" feature on Anthony's website many moons ago. The pitch was that you could record yourself juggling & ask a question on VHS, mail it off with $15 per question then Nick Gatto would record a response & mail it back. IIRC most of the webpage was taken up defining what a question was.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technolology this looks like a slicker version of the same service.

I'm also reminded of this:

...which I've never heard any more about.

I'm skeptical about how these sort of advanced coaching programs could ever be really successful simply because I don't believe that anyone can get to the level where only someone like Anthony could help you (7 balls+) without having learnt how to learn for yourself.

From https://thejugglingschool.com/the-first-post/

I can proudly say that the Juggling School is the first online institution offering juggling lesson taught by professional career jugglers

Eh? Although I suppose that depends on your definition of institution. Shirley the IJA mentoring program predates both the Juggling School & the WJF EOT?

Does Adria count?

https://youtu.be/HxLxVHNq-3s

Hmm, not sure I can bring myself to watch that again...

Little Paul - - Parent

I don't need to watch it. You said her name!

Hmm... I wonder if she'd like an invite...

lukeburrage - - Parent

Adria? Oh wow! How come I haven't seen a link to this video before? I'm not going to watch it, but knowing it exists has made my life more interesting.

barnesy - - Parent

I don't know if I can make you watch it by pointing out how many dozen more there are. And all of a consistent quality too!

Little Paul - - Parent

Expert Village is consistently full of win, no matter what the subject.

Orinoco - - Parent

Oh, you've got to watch her stuff, pure comedy gold!

...& Lloyd Ramsey too?
